An Evening In The Bar With Australian Alumini Singapore (AAS)

(Sponsored by James Cook University and Urban Fairways)

5th May 2010, the day that marked the revival of AAS Pub Night when Dr Dale Anderson announced that James Cook University would be sponsoring this function to coincide with the 2010 World Cup Soccer. Thus, this baby was conceived! Bars were approached, time-table for the World Cup Soccer Matches was studied and potential venues were recced; needless to say, we tasted yummy wine and Mojito along the way. The date was eventually fixed on the 25th of June 2010 for the AAS Pub and World Cup Night featuring the game between Portugal and Brazil.

Old Friends . New Friends . Party . Laughter . Juices . Boozes . Tea . Hot Delicious Snacks . Golf . Soccer . Lucky Draw Prizes. You named it! Those were overflowing from the bar “Urban Fairways” by 8.30pm. The party commenced from 8 pm and at 2 am, a group of die-hards were still hanging out at the bar for their last few drinks before heading home. At its peak, we had 95 guests who partied with us.

The guests that evening comprised golf newbies and golf enthusiasts who took their positions at the golf simulator, trying out different golf courses around the world, while others were doing their rounds with drinks and making new friends. It was also fabulous catching up with old friends for the latest news. Lots of chatter indeed. The winner of the golf game that evening, stood to win a voucher from the bar.

At 10 pm, the World Cup atmosphere set in with the screening of the game. All eyes were glued to the 3 screens and cheers were heard. The post-soccer party was equally fun and exciting.

Sigh, that was one great party we had! Friends were made and network was linked. Anyone with a hangover? Encore shall we, mate?

We wish to thank all guests who made it to our party. See you again, soon.
