Faculty of Health Sciences Special Interest Group Alumni Reception

Prof John Marley (Director, Internationalisation & Alumni) from UQ Faculty of Health Sciences and Prof Tay Sun Kuie (President, UQ Health Alumni Special Interest Group) hosted an alumni dinner reception for the Faculty of Health Sciences Special Interest Group on 29 September 2010 at the Grand Hyatt Singapore.

The UQ Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) has established Special Interest Groups (SIGs) in strategic international locations (Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, Hong Kong and Canada) with the aim of strengthening ties between UQ and and her alumni of healthcare researchers, educators and clinicians, with the eventual vision of creating a ‘Global Healthcare Community’.

Prof Marley was accompanied by Ms Ingrid Panitsch (Major Relationships Manager) from Brisbane. The event started over drinks where John and Ingrid were warmly welcomed.

Over an abundant spread of food, John facilitated a frank and lively discussion on the future of UQ/Singapore collaborations. An exciting and reciprocally beneficial healthcare project is potentially in the pipeline. Further details will follow once the project has been confirmed. UQ’s Faculty of Health continues to forge strong international links as UQ’s School of Medicine is now in the process of seeking accreditation from the American Medical Association.

A Facebook page has been set up for the UQ Faculty of Health Special Interest Group. Please tell your friends and join us to stay in touch and to keep abreast of current developments and future events. The page can be found by searching for UQ Faculty of Health Special Interest Group within Facebook.

Dinner ended with well wishes to John and Ingrid as they continue their global journey to make new connections with universities in Germany and to meet up with other FHS SIGs in Thailand and Hong Kong.
